Featured Community Member

Jerry Fain is our featured community member. Why? Mostly because it's fun to showcase some of our most active members to the rest of the TSF community. Jerry, a VP at Bullhorn and member of the Technology Professional Services Association, is a regular contributor to Technology Services Forum. He is a member of several communities of interest, including Small & Medium Sized Business, Partner Management, PS SMBs, and Services Engineering. Check out Jerry's profile and be sure to say hello! Thanks for participating Jerry!

Latest Communities of Interest

There have been some interesting discussions taking place in the communities of interest recently. Also, there are some brand new COIs available for you to join. Diane Brundage launched "Women in Services", an extension of the popular "Women In Services: Profiles of Success Panel" which took place at TSW Spring 2009. And Michael Israel launched "Maintenance Pricing Practices", an active group with 16 members and counting.

Spammers get Spanked

In addition to all the good stuff happening on TSF lately there have been a couple of oddities as well. You guessed it—the spammers found us. We've received inquiries as to why members were getting profile comment notifications, but when the link was clicked nothing happened. This is not a bug--it's due to the fact that two accounts were manually spamming members (adding messages about free ringtones and equally brainless offers) and have since been banned.

While automated SPAM is effectively eliminated by TSF's platform host, occasionally some people dedicate their lives to being unproductive members of the community and manually insert spam on people's profile pages.

If we identify a spammer we immediately ban them from the network and delete all their content from the system. Unfortunately, some people may catch notification emails before we lock them out. When you click through, their content will be gone and you'll get a "Page Not Found" error. This, in fact, is a good thing. If you see that then in all likelihood we've already eliminated the problem and we do apologize that we didn't catch it sooner.

If you suspect spam, just let us know!

3 Tips You Can Use

1) Join an existing COI, or suggest a new one. Why? COIs are a great place to collaborate on specific topics with like-minded members of the community. Not only that, but discussions are handled a little differently in COIs: when something new is posted, you're notified immediately!

2) Update your profile and notifications. Help people find you, and give them a reason to connect.

3) Start a new discussion or post your thoughts to an existing thread. And keep in mind, you don't have to be overly profound or verbose!

4) If you want to message someone on TSF directly, you have to add them as a contact first (like "friending" on other social networks).
